EXPERIENCE life in a wheelchair!
That’s the call from Wheels of Change Organisation. On Saturday they will host an awareness campaign called Challenge The Challenged at Vosloorus in Ekurhuleni. It’s a race between people with disabilities and people without disabilities. According to the founder and the chairman of the organisation, Thami Mankenkeza, the campaign is aimed at showing difficulties faced by people with disabilities. “On Saturday we will have a race between the people with disabilities and people without. “The ability participants will be suppressing their lower level bodies by tying their legs and competing with wheelchair bound people.”

Thami added that during the race there will be activities such as crossing the streets and riding on the ramp. “They will use the old township toilets and wheelchair friendly toilets. The event will start at 10am and the entrance is free with a pledge of R100 to participants. “We will be donating wheelchairs, crutches, food parcels and a free meal to people with disabilities.” He said Wheels of Change ambassadors such as MoG from Kaya FM, Mrs Africa Finalist Tshepang Lutshaba, Nhlanhla Maphanga and Thandiswa Nyovane will take part in the race.
