Wheels of change is non-profit organisation established 19 November 2016 with aim of up-skilling people with disabilities by:

  • Creating a nation of entrepreneurship within people with disabilities.
  • Reduce grants reliance
  • Improve standard of living
  • Create a way for a full potential life
  • Encourage participation in the economy
  • Fight for the rights of people with disabilities
  • Sports recreation programs
  • Physiotherapy sessions
  • Assisting in mobility aids
  • Housing project for people with disabilities.
  • Events and campaigns programs
  • Outreach programs

Wheels of changed launched on the 19th November 2015 by hosting a wheelchair race to raise awareness in the community. People without disabilities were put on wheelchairs and bounded to enable them to experience life in a wheelchair. With the launch the organization was able to:

  • Have people with disabilities and people without participating in a fun, educational and raise awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities due to unfriendly wheelchair environments
  • Distribute food parcels to people with disabilities
  • Donate walking aids and wheelchairs to people with disabilities

Wheels of Change long term plan is to build a Centre in our communities that will enable people with disability to get:

  • Physio Therapy, Occupation health Therapy, offer on going counselling and life coaching
  • Disability Aids repair Centre
  • Upskilling people with disabilities so that they will be able to participate in the economy, which will assist in reducing grants and government reliance
  • Providing a suitable shelter to those who don’t have accommodation and leaving in poor conditions
  • Recruitment division to assist people with disabilities with job placements

Work and skills development

Wheels of change skills development centre is based in Ekurhuleni, the centre will accommodate any people with disability in and outside Ekurhuleni. The centre will operate Monday to Friday from 8h00 -16h00

  • We provide training to improve skills and support disabled people into employment.
  • Offers opportunities for 10‑ to 35‑year-old disabled people to volunteer in their communities, developing skills and knowledge to lead more independent lives and be socially active.
  • Connects disabled students with paid internships at top SA companies.
  • Computer centre giving disabled people access to computer training
  • Our Work Choice voluntary employment programme that supports disabled people to become ready for work. For many people, it is the stepping stone into full, unsupported employment.
  • Our Specialist Employability Support (SES) service is a voluntary programme supporting individuals with sight loss become ready for work, and supports them while in work
  • We provide career exhibition and career Guidance to learners with disability
  • Disability Exhibition is the exhibition where people with disability exhibitor their work  
  • Disabled Entrepreneurs Award is the  creation of the award supporting disabled entrepreneurs, but also raising awareness of the skills and inventiveness of those with disabilities
